A Few Words About Ice
For best results start with good, clear cube or chunk ice. Flake ice is great for chilling drinks but works in an ice shaver about as well as trying to shred cream cheese. When very cold ice is first exposed to the outside air, it will form a thin haze or layer of frost on the surface. Allow the ice to “rest” or “temper out” (warm). Some machines, those with LLDPE plastic allow ice directly from the freezer eliminating sticking.
Hawaiian Ice has a high perceived value, usually sold at price points higher than snow cones. A serving requires about ¾ pound of ice and two ounces of syrup.

Useful tips for operation
Your guide to Sno-kone success. To make the best Sno-kone:
1.
Start the motor and fill the shaver body, often called the gooseneck, an inch from the top with ice cubes or 3" x 4" pieces of ice. The larger the ice pieces, the better the snow
2.
Push ice down against the cutter-head with firm pressure. Too much pressure results in coarse ice; too little makes ice mushy
3.
Do not force the handle
4.
A surface temperature of 150-degrees F. is normal
5.
To prevent damage to blades, insert only ice in the gooseneck
6.
To prevent injury, keep fingers away from the shave body when motor is running
Cleaning instructions It's a snap!
